Champlain Islands Farmers' Markets
The Champlain Islands Farmers’ Markets run from May 25th to October 12th on Saturdays at St. Joseph’s Church from 10 am to 2 pm (Grand Isle), and May 29th to September 25th on Wednesdays at St. Rose of Lima Church from 3 to 6pm (South Hero). Both are located just off of Route 2 on the picturesque Lake Champlain Islands. The markets are diversified with farm fresh local veggies, beautiful crafts, and deliciously prepared foods, not to mention an impressive array of community events including live music, studio tours, and cooking demonstrations.
At the Champlain Islands Farmers’ Markets, shoppers can find a large bounty of varying produce selections, including beautiful heirloom tomatoes, bok choy, and fennel, as well as grass-fed beef, chicken, and lamb. Prepared foods are well represented at both markets, and include unique items such as parsley and beet pasta, ice cream, maple pumpkin butter and cotton candy, as well as vendors that offer flatbread pizza, Greek food, and Asian cuisine. Both markets feature a considerable selection of handcrafted goods such as polymer clay jewelry and buttons, wooden furniture, soaps, and rustic signs. Specialty beverages such as wines and ice cider are also available.
In addition to the many amazing produce, prepared food, and craft offerings, the Champlain Islands Farmers’ Markets also boast a large calendar of events for this upcoming summer season. Live music frequents the schedule, as well as multiple food and cooking demonstrations (including a battle of school chefs!), open farm and studio tours, a special “kids day” celebration, and special events that include a harvest festival, apple day, and the festival of the islands.
